Strengthening Local Governance through Participatory and Responsive Public Services
The aim of the project is to create public awareness to establish strong rights on government services and social legal justice through Strengthening up standing committees, village courts through making government service providing organizations more responsible and people’s participation
Project Aim:
The aim of this project is to create public awareness to establish strong rights on Government Services and social legal justice through strengthening UP standing committee, village court and service providing organizations in the south west region of Bangladesh.
Objective:
- To ensure quality services of UP and Government services for the favor of the people on working area through capacity building of union parishad.
- To mediate for active linkage building among people, CSOs, local government institutions for making services available and accessible according to people’s demand.
- To establish strategy in local and national level policy formation and advocacy on strengthening local government.
Target Group
The target group includes poor and marginal people, Journalist, LEB member, Teacher, Student, Government official and Leaders of civil society.

Project Activities
- A quaternary sensitization meeting with the high school students was held.
- Bi-monthly informal meetings between Lokomorcha and UP standing committee were held.
- Using flipchart by Lokomorcha to aware peoples about the access in government services and holding ward meetings for public awareness building and raising public demand.
- Community meeting was held on UP level for preventing early marriages, leaving school of high school girl students, preventing oppression of child and women and increase women participation in UP, village court, SMC and social development committee.
- Lokomorcha arranged a bi-monthly review meeting with UP,GOs and NGOs.
- Lobbing meeting at UP, Upazila and District level.
- Meeting of Lokomorcha with UDCC.
