Adolescent as Agents of Change: Transforming Gender Relations through an Adolescent Development

Background

At present, Adolescents are one of the major concerns all over the world and Bangladesh is not an exception. It’s a matter of concern that we do not have many ideals how want to take care of them. Due to lack of care and proper guidance they are going to astray. In Bangladesh discriminations within the family and social life, early marriage, dowry, domestic violence, social isolation, lack of awareness on rights and lack of autonomy in decision making are some of the major socio-culture adversities that the adolescent girls are facing in their everyday life. Considering all of these challenges Nari Maitree leaded consortium took a project named “Adolescents as agents of change: transforming gender relations through adolescent’s development project” in five different districts of Bangladesh funded by European commission.

Objectives

  • To achieve gender equity and removing gender discrimination and violence through outlook and behavioral change of the adolescents.
  • Transforming gender relations through adolescent’s development and building adolescent as an agent of change of the society.
