Regional Stakeholder Consultation on Protection of Disaster Vulnerable Women and Girls in the South West Coastal Region of Bangladesh

A regional stakeholder consultation was held on November 16, 2024 at Hotel Caste Salam, Khulna, with a focus on protection of cyclone disaster vulnerable women and girls in the south-west coastal region of Bangladesh with participation of civil society representative, academician, NGO delegates and media personnel.

The consultation aimed to mobilize the CSOs, CBOs, Institutions, and activists in the project area to engage them in the disaster management planning and advocacy focusing vulnerable women and girls. The participants discussed on advocacy, study, reporting, corporate social responsibility and voluntary activities & linkage with CBOs.

The meeting was chaired by ATM Zakir Hossain, Executive Director, JJS. The notable participants were Prof. Dr. Abdullah Harun Chowdhury, Environmental Science Discipline, Khulna University; Prof. Dr. Md Nazmus Sadat, Forestry and Wood Technology Discipline, Khulna University; Prof. Dr Tusar Kanti Roy, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET); Prof. Anjum Tasnuva, Institute of Disaster Management (IDM) of KUET; Sheikh Ashraf-Uz-Zaman, Adv. Mominul Islam and Rehena Akter from civil society, Shaikh Al Ehsan, Monija Habib Luna, Mostofa Zaman Poplu, HM Alauddin and Gazi Munir from media.
